I remember it was early morning and we spent all morning, cooking, making thanksgiving food. From mashed potatoes and how you already had the turkey already going in the oven. After spending so much time cooking, we took a step outside to enjoy the snow for a bit. Though there was snow, there wasn’t much to really gather up for a snowman because grass and dirt would get in the way. So we continued to play with the snow. Making snowballs, throwing them into the street - and how you tried to throw one at a car passing by. I thought it was really funny because you were trying really hard and missed. We laughed it off. And while I was recording you playing with snow, you tried to throw a snowball at me! But I thought it was cute because you were interacting with me through the camera, and that’s what made it memorable for me. Being able to see your handsome face and that smile and those little kisses.
I remember the days were cold and you had already switched rooms from downstairs to up. I remember the pastel walls to the layered blankets on your bed and how you had a small coat rack for your jackets on the left side of your room. And how your music keyboard was on the right. The smell of you coming off from your lingering cologne. How the blinds were always closed because it was so bright from the overcast sky. How we’d always have the heater on because our feet were always so cold. I remember you got sick so we didn’t do much for about 3 days and just stay in and cuddle and make soup for you.
Time was getting close for me to leave back home by the end of the 6th day of being there in Renton, WA - but we weren’t prepared. The last night I was there, we stayed up the lastest we could without falling asleep. It was around 1:30am and my flight was at 7am. I remember laying next to you, the warmth of your legs and warms wrapped around me and how you laid on your side to face me and me face you. The look in our eyes of not wanting to say bye just yet. I’ll always remember what you said.
“Owlways, owlways.”
And tears ran down my cheeks as your eyes started to become misty and your nose red. You squeezed my hands as I did yours.
I will never forget that moment.
